Today Keith Allred, candidate for governor, said he was frustrated to learn that a federal judge had once again re-listed the gray wolf population under the Endangered Species Act and closed off Idaho’s state-run wolf management program.

“Idaho had an approved plan that met the federal Fish and Wildlife Service’s litmus test for a strong, state-run management plan,” said Allred. “I don't understand why a gray wolf population that is growing faster than anyone expected would be re-listed under the ESA.”

“Idaho can and should manage its own wolf population,” Allred said.

Keith Allred is a fifth-generation Idahoan who grew up working on his family’s ranches. He has been the leader of The Common Interest, a citizens’ advocate group that helped lower property taxes and fight proposals to raise car and pickup registration fees.
