Keith Allred today welcomed the endorsement of the Spokane Spokesman-Review, the newspaper that reaches more northern Idahoans than any other.

“We believe Allred, who stands out in a field of nonpartisan and third-party rivals, has the potential to be a strong, collaborative and methodical governor who could get positive results while upholding Idaho’s independent spirit,” the editorial read. “No lefty, Allred agrees with Otter that the federal government is overreaching, but he favors restoring state sovereignty by working within the system rather than going to court and putting judges in control. Unlike Otter, he thinks the state should maintain control over wolf management programs.”

The editorial is well-timed, as Allred pushes toward Election Day on a “Lower Taxes, Stronger Schools Tour” that highlights his contrasts with the incumbent and pushes back on the lies being spread about his campaign by special-interest groups.

“Butch Otter’s record of trying to raise taxes on everyday Idahoans is his problem, not mine,” said Allred. “The more people hear about my plan to lower taxes, the more support we draw from across the political spectrum.”

The Spokesman Review is just the latest of regional newspapers to endorse Allred’s campaign.

“Allred is methodical, pragmatic and outcome-focused, and would foster public confidence,” read the paper’s endorsement. “We commend him to Idaho’s voters.”

Keith Allred is a fifth-generation Idahoan who grew up working on his family’s ranches. He has been the leader of The Common Interest, a citizens’ advocate group that helped lower property taxes and fight proposals to raise car and pickup registration fees.
